Director of Engineering
Rick is a long-time renewables enthusiast, most recently liberated from the telecom manufacturing world to pursue this passion. His 1983 undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Environmental Engineering was concentrated on “alternative” energies. After graduation, Rick took a three-year assignment in West Africa with his wife, developing water resources just south of the Sahara Desert. Returning to the States, Rick plugged into the recycling industry for several years, helping to manage Recycle Ann Arbor. After moving to Colorado in 1994, Rick completed his Masters in Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University and subsequently adapted his manufacturing and project management training to the high-tech industry along the Front Range of Colorado. Rick is a NABCEP Certified Installer (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) and now serves the renewable energy community sitting on the Boards of both the Northern Colorado Renewable Energy Society (NCRES) and the Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES). He also sits on the CRES and CoSEIA (Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association) Policy Committees and is a member of the Colorado Energy Science Center (CESC), Solar Energy International (SEI) and the American Solar Energy Society (ASES).
Colorado Connections: Rick has served as an NCRES board member for over four years and on the CRES Board for over three. He is a member of CoSEIA, CESC, SEI, The Nature Conservancy, and Ratepayers United of Colorado. Rick and his wife, Chris, reside in Fort Collins.
