Residential solar electric system, Fort Collins, Colorado

Kalert Residence 1

Tom Kalert, an architect, waited for years to add solar electricity to his passive solar energy efficient home. Tom carefully calculated his average electricity needs for the last 10 years and then Bella designed a system (5kW peak) to meet 100% of his needs (net zero). A year out, he is 200 kWh to the positive and will be selling his remaining solar produced kilowatts back to Xcel.

“Bella Energy exceeded my expectations by 100%. The entire experience was pleasurable. It is so unusual to work with a company that actually delivers more than they promise.”

Tom Kalert Owner, Architect

“This project had good records of utility usage so we could accurately size a system for 100% solar power.”

Project of the Month, February 2007

Suriname-lg_1

In 2004, Bella Energy installed the solar pumping and electrical system for Conservation International on Foengoe Island, in the middle of Suriname. The 6 kW solar power system provides AC power for lights, and major appliances (fans, refrigerators) for a visitor center, two lodges and homes for the staff. The three-story, 150-foot-long visitor’s center is the largest building ever constructed in the interior of Suriname. Overlooking dramatic rapids in the Coppename River, it features state-of-the-art potable water and septic systems. This project meets the highest international, environmental, and conservation standards for ecotourism facilities.
