Every State is different with respect to the licenses or credentials an installer must have. Sometimes it only requires that they be an electrician. I agree that you should ask about certifications, as well as training of those helping the head installer. Everyone has to get their start somewhere, so not everyone on a site can be a NABCEP certified installer, but there are training programs that technicians can attend before they ever start putting panels on a roof along side a certified installer that will give them the knowledge they need to know what they are doing, without having achieved the full NABCEP PV Installer certification, which takes time and experience in addition to passing the exam.
