June 24, 2009 was Bike to Work Day, an event that many Bella Energy employees celebrated by meeting up for the trek into work and stopping at various breakfast stands along the way.
In all, there were 11 Bella Energy participants pushing the pedals for the environment. Bicycle types included traditional road bikes, single speed mountain bikes, and one electric assist bike. Bella Energy’s team rode a total of 93.3 miles.
“A while back I got an electric bike to use as a cheaper way to commute, it works surprisingly well as an alternative to my car. ” said Stu Barwick.
Alison Hyde is a regular bicycle commuter. “Bike to Work Day is bigger than Flag Day. It’s fun to stop at the events in the city and get free breakfast. It’s like a huge bicycle party in Boulder.”
Overall, the Bella Energy group had a very successful bike to work day. Everyone had fun and there were no crashes or flat tires.
The Daily Camera, Boulder’s local newspaper, reported that nearly 7,000 Boulder riders participated in the event. For the full story, please visit the Daily Camera…
